Getting Started

Setting Up Your Company Brain

The Company Brain is your central company profile. Fill it in once and every other tool on the platform pulls from it automatically.

What is the Company Brain?

The Company Brain is a structured profile with 20 fields that describe your startup: tagline, vertical, business model, team size, funding status, and more. It lives in Settings > Company tab.

Other tools reference this data automatically. For example, the Memo Generator pulls your problem statement, solution, and traction metrics from the Company Brain instead of asking you to re-enter them.

Step 1: Open Company settings

Navigate to Settings by clicking the gear icon in the sidebar, then click the 'Company' tab.

You will see a form with all 20 fields organized into sections: Basics, Product, Market, Team, and Fundraising.

Step 2: Fill in the basics

Start with the fields at the top: company name, tagline, vertical, and geography. These are used on your Data Room cover page and investor memos.

For 'Vertical', choose the closest match from the dropdown. If your industry is not listed, select 'Other' and type it in the text field that appears.

For 'Stage', select your current stage: Idea, MVP, Launch, Traction, Fundraising, or Scaling. This determines which sidebar tools are visible and which templates appear in your Data Room.

Step 3: Add product and market details

Fill in 'Problem Statement' and 'Solution Statement'. Keep each to one or two sentences. These flow directly into your Business Plan and Investor Memo.

Set 'Product Status' (concept, prototype, beta, live) and 'Revenue Status' (pre-revenue, early revenue, scaling revenue). These feed into your SESS score calculation.

Step 4: Team and fundraising

Enter your team size and number of co-founders. If you are fundraising, set 'Raise Status' to 'Raising', enter your target amount, and select the round type (Pre-Seed, Seed, Series A, etc.).

When Raise Status is set to 'Raising', the dashboard will show an active raise widget with your target and pipeline progress.

Step 5: Save and verify

Click 'Save changes' at the bottom. A confirmation toast will appear. You can verify the data is connected by opening the Memo Generator - you should see your company details pre-filled.
